Finally! Connected to the world! I'm happy to report that we now have phone lines, cable tv, and internet access. What a relief to be connected again!
The move went fairly snag free, and luckily we had good weather. We are done unpacking, aside from a few boxes marked "misc"(aka "stuff that will go to goodwill the next time we move"). The kids have adjusted very well--shockingly well, actually! They had 2 tough nights (waking up frequently) and after that all was well. They love their nice, big rooms and are totally fascinated with having stairs. Up and down up and down all day long!
Of course I'm attempting to participate in Tour de Fleece. How could I not??? I have a pretty respectable stash (and discovered "hidden" stashes while packing!). I've been pumping out yarn like a madwoman, inlcuding yarns for the Spinner's Study on Ravelry. Of course I'll have my notes posted a little later this week for this month's fibers: shetland and tussah silk. I haven't been able to spin every single night of the tour, but pretty darn close to it considering what has been going on. Its actually very nice to be able to sit down and mindlessly spin for a half an hour here and there between unpacking and rearranging furniture.
Here is a taste of what has been on my bobbins:
Something to note: the first 2 yarns are not finished (that is, set and blocked.)
A hand-dyed shetland, from Spunky Eclectic in colorway Neptune. Stats: 136 yards, worsted weight (12 wpi)

Tussah Silk, dyed by Enchanted Knoll Farm. 228 yards, 22wpi, laceweight. I'm not thrilled with this one--please note that it wasn't the dyer's fault. This was my first silk spinning experience and while the singles were very even, I had a tough time plying.

And some Romney fiber, natural brown from Little Barn

Lots of yardage and very fluffy and soft, considering its a Romney. Stats: 377 yds over 3 skeins, light worsted weight (13 wpi)
Next I plan on spinning up some Spunky Eclectic fibers--I have a backlog of the Fiber of the Month rovings! Oh, and check out the lovely cormo dyed fleece that I got just yesterday from the woderful and amazing WhimzyPinzy:

Its crazy soft and I can't wait to spin it for September's Study. And let me take this opportunity to once again thank WhimzyPinzy for her patience and understanding, as we had some difficulty with packages destined for our new address

I've made great progress on my Kiri shawl, though its starting to get really boring. I think I could do the leaf pattern in my sleep. Its quite lovely though, and the Claudia's handpainted silk is a delight to work with. If you decide to knit with this yarn, please be advised that using bamboo needles is a terrible idea! I had such a tough time using my bamboo circs. They just weren't pointy enough and kept snagging the dainty yarn. So I splurged for some Addi Lace Circs. I will never look back! In fact, I am thinking of slowly replacing my other needles with these puppies. They have just the right amount of "tooth" and pointiness--silk and other smooth fibers won't go sliding off, but they will glide nicely when you knit. They aren't so pointy that they split the yarn and hurt your fingers but they can manage some very tricky lace maneuvers.
I have a few ideas for Christmas knitting (which I won't divulge here for fear that my most loyal readers--my family--will snoop!). Can you believe that "c" word crept into a July blog posting?!? Think about it: there is only 4 1/2 months until the big day! Depending on how much Christmas knitting you have to do, it is certainly time to at least pick out a couple of patterns and some yarn.
I hope to get my Spinner's Study notes up later this week, and some pics of the new house! Its still sort of in dissarray, but I'm taking for granted that you all will forgive the mess. I will aslo have a shop update in the near future! Till next time!
Thanks for reading!
